The fun doesn't stop just because it's a little chilly! Enjoy our most popular winter event, with broomball tournaments on the ice and fantastic creations that slide downhill (or try to).
Don't miss Chestertown's Annual Krazy Downhill Derby, a wacky winter event. It is the time of year when children and adults alike stand atop Dynamite Hill and cheer on their favorite homemade sleds as they make their way towards the bottom, hopefully with all riders still on board. Twenty sleds were entered last year, each with a unique character and theme.
9:00 - 10 a.m. Hockey shoot-out registration and Downhill Derby registration
10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Hockey shoot-out
9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Scavenger hunt
10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Dax (Adirondack Phantoms mascot) visits Dynamite Hill
11 AM - Krazy Downhill Derby Registration, only four persons per sled, $3.00 per person to enter
12 Noon - Krazy Sled Downhill Derby Begins
Get there early to view the sleds up close. Certificates and prizes will be awarded for fastest, most creative,
funniest and more. Refreshments in the ski hut.
Want to enter a sled? Here's the basic rules:
- No motors or jet power - just gravity and a push
- Your contraption must make it to the bottom to qualify for a prize
- Only four persons persons per sled
- A sled may only go down the hill one time
